Four Lady Rams Named All-Conference

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Sooner Athletic Conference has announced its 2013 Women's Soccer All-Conference team and four members of the Texas Wesleyan University squad were among those honored.

Jessica Watton, Alexis Michaelkovich, and Nikki Lockwood were all named to the first team, while Leah Valtman was a second team selection.

Watton, a senior forward from Royal Oak, MI, has recorded 13 goals and three assists this season.  She currently ranks fifth in the conference with 0.87 goals per game and 1.93 points per game.

Michaelkovich, a junior midfielder from Colorado Springs, CO, leads the Lady Rams with five assists.  She ranks second on the team with 23 points and nine goals.

Lockwood, a freshman goalkeeper from Arlington, TX, has allowed just 12 goals in 16 games for a goals against average of 0.73.  Her seven shutouts are just two shy of Katy Houchin's single season record (2009).

Valtman, a defensive midfielder from Grapevine, TX, has anchored a defense that has matched the school's single season record with nine shutouts and a goals against average of 0.71.

Regular season conference champion Oklahoma City was rewarded with several individual awards.  Meghan McMahon was named Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, while Brian Harvey was named Coach of the Year.  John Brown's Kristen Morency was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Science and Arts' Jade Ovendale was named Newcomer of the Year.

The Lady Rams will be the fifth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament with an overall record of 11-4-2 and a conference mark of 5-4-1.  They will travel to Shawnee, OK, on Saturday to take on fourth seeded Oklahoma Baptist (9-7, 7-3 SAC).  That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.

The Bison defeated the Lady Rams in a 2-1 double overtime thriller at Martin Field earlier this season.  That win leveled the all-time series between the two programs at 2-2.
