Box Score 2 SHAWNEE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (3-1) swept the day with a pair wins over former conference mates Wiley College(2-2) 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-13) and Texas College(0-2) 3-0 (25-8, 25-5, 25-18) at the Oklahoma Baptist University Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Rams and Lady Wildcats both made some early errors in the first match of the day (9:00am) in the first set to keep the game close tied a 7-7. The Rams made adjustments, spreading the ball around the court to cruise to a 25-16 win.

Texas Wesleyan jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the second set with an exclamation point by Starnisha Bodie, but the Lady Wildcats were not going to lie down. Wiley battled back with a 6-0 run to get within one a12-11, but Wesleyan kept the scrappy Wildcats at bay. Back-to-back Alex Hendee kills made it 22-17, and Meghan Finley ended game two with back-to-back kills for a 25-21 win.

In game three, the Lady Wildcats hurt themselves with a string of attacking errors, paired with a Courtney Shirey kill to give the Lady Rams a 12-4 lead. Wesleyan kept a sizeable lead the entire set, and Lauren Hamaker put 25 on the scoreboard with a service ace to take the match win.

Finley led the Rams in kills with 10. Abigail Zipoy punched nine kills in the match. Stephanie Dominguez posted 19 assists, while Hamaker had 16. Lauren Hutchinson racked up 21 digs for the Lady Rams.

The second game was no contest as the Lady Rams simply over matched and over powered the Lady Steers. Texas Wesleyan held Texas College to 33 points in the three set match. Rosenbusch tallied 12 kills. Hamaker posted 19 assists, while Dominguez had 15. Zipoy notched 6 kills. Finley and Shirey added 5 kills apiece. Hutchinson had 13 digs for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Rams will head north to Marion, IN for the Taylor/Indiana Wesleyan Tournament on August 30-31. The Lady Rams will play Point Park University at 5:30 PM before taking of Davenport University at 8:00 PM in day one.
