OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (8-8, 4-4 SAC) fell 96-61 to seventh ranked Oklahoma City University (11-2, 8-1 SAC) at Abe Lemons Arena on Thursday night.

The two teams were slow to start on the offensive end, with the Lady Rams holding a slim 6-4 lead five minutes into the contest. The game was tied 8-8 for over two minutes of game time beforeÂ

Krissy Parker in the lane for a layup and a 10-8 lead. Cara Pugh came right back landing a three pointer for an 11-10 Stars lead. The teams took turns with the lead midway through the first half, until the Stars romped on a 14-0 run to grab a 34-19 lead with just under six minutes remaining. Oklahoma City held that lead, taking a 41-30 advantage into the break.

Oklahoma City stretched the lead to a 20-point 55-35 lead to start the second half of play. Things did not get much better for the Lady Rams from there, as the Stars rambled off rally after rally to extend the lead to 30-plus with under five minutes remaining in the game. The Lady Rams could make no dents in the sizable lead, falling 96-61on the road.

The Stars made the most with Wesleyan turnovers, posting 30 points off of 23 Lady Ram mishaps. Texas Wesleyan outscored the Stars in the paint, 36-25. Both teams shot nearly identical from the field. Wesleyan shot 47.4 percent, while OKC shot 47.8 percent. With the win, the Stars stay a half game back of fifth ranked Oklahoma Baptist in the SAC race. The Lady Rams remain in the fifth spot.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they host Southwestern Christian Univeristy in SAC action. That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start in the Sid Richardson Center.
