BETHANY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (7-2, 3-0 SAC) took a 3-0 win at Southwestern Christian University (6-5, 2-2 SAC) in Sooner Athletic Conference action on Saturday.
Alexis Michaelkovich cracked the scoreboard first when she scored on an assist from
Kaitlin Bush in the 17th minute. That marked the seventh consecutive goal that Bush either scored or assisted for the Lady Rams.
Shrareh Asadi netted her fifth goal of the season in the 36th minute, and the Rams went to the break up 2-0.
Bush capped the scoring when she netted her ninth goal of the season off an assist from
Katherine Bynum in the 79th minute.
The Rams dominated play throughout the contest, outshooting the Eagles 18-6. The Rams also had six corner kicks while SCU had none. The TWU back line also limited the Eagles to only three shots on goal in the game.
Nikki Lockwood (7-2) recorded her 10th career shutout (third of the season) with three saves. SCU's Kaylie Naumann made five saves in the loss.
"This was a great team performance," said head coach Josh Gibbs. "Everyone gave a maximum effort today, and we controlled the game from start to finish because of that effort. I'm very pleased with our performance and hope we can keep it going on Tuesday.
The Lady Rams will return to action Tuesday, when they host Mid-America Christian University. That game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
