BETHANY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (10-16) took a 3-1 (25-15, 25-13, 23-25, 25-14) loss to NCAA Division II opponent Southern Nazarene University (15-7) on Monday night.

After a
Lynsay Buell kill gave the Lady Rams a 3-2 lead early in the first set, the Crimson Storm grabbed a five-point, 10-5 lead to force a Wesleyan timeout. A
Shelby Stinnett kill helped the Rams cut the lead to 13-12, but a 7-0 rally spurred Southern Nazarene to a 21-13 lead. The home team closed out the first set 25-15.

The Lady Rams held a very slight advantage to start the second set, and a few Crimson Storm errors made it a 9-6 lead. Southern Nazarene quickly tied the set at 11-11, on a part of a 6-1 run that gave the Crimson Storm a 16-12 lead. A
Kiersten Mebane kill shortly stopped the run at 16-13, but SNU rattled off a 9-0 run to grab the second set, 25-13.

A Mebane kill tied the start of the third set 3-3, but the Crimson Storm jumped back out to a 10-7 lead. Texas Wesleyan quickly tied the game at 10-10 on an
Abigail Zipoy kill, and the Lady Rams seemed to find a little momentum. Wesleyan battled closely with the Crimson Storm, and another Zipoy kill tied the set 22-22. A pair of SNU errors and a
Bre Blackburn service ace gave the Rams a 25-22 third set win.

The Crimson Storm found a 7-3 lead to start the fourth set, and extended the lead to 13-7 behind a loud home crowd. A
Shelby Stinnett kill cut the lead to 14-11, but the Crimson Storm kept the pressure on, sprinting to a 25-14 win to take the match 3-1.

Stinnett led the Lady Rams with 11 kills.
Alex Hendee posted eight kills. Mebane and Buell each tallied seven kills in the match.
Lauren Hamaker had 20 assists, and
Kristina Gafford notched 16 assists in the loss.

Texas Wesleyan will resume conference play tomorrow with a match in Shawnee, OK against St. Gregory's University. The match is set for a 7:00 pm start.
