SHAWNEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan volleyball team (11-16, 7-4 SAC) notched a road win over St. Gregory's University (6-18, 2-9 SAC) in four sets (20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-19) at W.P. Wood Field House on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers pounced out to a 7-2 lead to start the match, worked well to keep the lead throughout.
Alex Hendee earned a kill to cut the lead to 14-10, but SGU made it hard for the Lady Rams to cut into the lead. Another Hendee kill made it a three-point deficit, but that would be as close Texas Wesleyan would get, falling 25-20.

Kiersten Mebane kill capped a 4-1 spurt to start the second set. The Lady Rams held a slight advantage until a 5-0 rally by the Cavs made it a 15-12 game with Wesleyan in trouble of going down 0-2 in the match. The Lady Rams battled back and
Shelby Stinnett gave the Rams an 18-17 lead. St. Gregory's tied the set at 19-19, but Texas Wesleyan outscored the Cavs 6-1 highlighted by a
Lynsay Buell kill to take the set 25-20.

The Cavaliers posted a narrow lead early in the third set, as errors kept the Lady Rams from taking a lead. Tiphani Funk kept the momentum going with a kill to make a 12-6 lead. Wesleyan slowly crawled back in the game with a 5-1 rally capped by a Stinnett kill to tie the game at 22-22. The two teams went back and forth with the lead until an
Abigail Zipoy kill gave the Lady Rams a 25-24 advantage before a Cavalier error lifted Wesleyan to a 26-24 win.

The Lady Rams got off to a solid start in the fourth set with a 6-2 run highlighted by a Zipoy service ace. A 5-1 run by the Cavaliers quickly tied the game 7-7, as SGU protected their home turf. The Cavs battled and kept it a close game until a few St. Gregory's errors led to a 23-18 Ram lead. A Stinnett ace made it 24-18, and a Cavalier error sealed the match 3-1 in favor of the Lady Rams.

Hendee led the Rams with 15 kills and 17 digs. Zipoy also tallied a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Lauren Hamaker notched a double-double behind 21 assists and 13 digs.

Texas Wesleyan will head to Waxahachie, TX to play a match against Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Thursday, October 23. The match is set for a 7:00 pm first serve.Â
