OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (9-11, 5-7 SAC) slipped 79-68 to Mid-America Christian University (13-8, 7-5 SAC) at the Gaulk Arena on Saturday.

The two teams played two minutes of scoreless basketball to start the contest before Cheyenne Been scored the first bucket of the game to give the Evangels the lead. Texas Wesleyan busted it out a 10-0 run capped by anÂ
Amy Moody lay in for a 10-2 lead five minutes in. Kelsie Dutton and the Evangels battled back to tie the game 17-17 midway through the first half.

Both teams went back and forth until the Lady Rams went on a 5-0 run capped with a shot behind the arc from Moody to give Texas Wesleyan a 35-30 advantage with six minutes to go before the half. The Evangels only made up a point from there, as Wesleyan did a good job of defending the 17 three point attempts Mid-America Christian fired off in the first half, taking a 39-35 lead at the break.

The Evangels went 5-17 for 29 percent from downtown in the first half, while only shooting 25 percent from the field. Wesleyan shot 49 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three point line in the half. Mid-America Christian stayed in the game by getting to the free throw line. The Evangels made 14-15 for 93 percent from the charity stripe.

ToiEasha Cooper made it a 45-38 game with a second chance tip in. The Evangels came back to rip off a 19-3 run capped by an Ashley Ferguson three pointer, giving Mid-America Christian a 57-48 lead. The Lady Rams battled, but could never recover, dropping the contest 79-68. Â

MACU finished the night shooting better from behind the arc than from the field, going 44 percent from behind the arc, and 39 percent from the field. Texas Wesleyan shot 47 percent from the field and 33 percent from the three point line. The deciding factor was most likely in the 27 points the Evangels notched from 23 Lady Ram turnovers.Â

Cooper picked up her second consecutive double-double and her fourth of the season, while leading all players with 25 points, adding 12 rebounds. Moody had 10 points and five assists on the night.
