Box Score FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (1-4) lost the home opener 3-0 (30-28, 25-14, 25-23) to Texas Woman's University at the Sid Richardson Center on Tuesday.

The Pioneers grabbed a 5-1 lead to start the match, but the Lady Rams went on a 7-2 run capped by an
Abigail Zipoy ace to give Wesleyan an 8-6 lead. A couple errors gave Texas Woman's the lead again and the Pioneers gave themselves some breathing room with a five point, 19-14 lead. Wesleyan came right back and tied the game with a five point spurt that ended with an
Alex Hendee ace. The two teams went back and forth, but the Pioneers got a pair of kills to end the set with a 30-28 win.

Texas Woman's took an 8-4 lead in the second set and then took a 10-2 run to make it a 21-9 lead. The Lady Rams got back to back kills from
Shelby Stinnett and
Lynsay Buell, but could not make a comeback and dropped the second set 25-14.

Alex Hendee gave the Rams a 5-2 lead to start the third set and Texas Wesleyan kept a slight lead with a
Starnisha Bodie kill to make it 10-8. The Pioneers took the lead, but Bodie tied the game with another kill at 12-12. Texas Woman's took a 7-2 run capped by a Hillary Shaffer kill to give the Pioneers a 19-14 lead. The Lady Rams battled back and tied the set at 21-21 with a Buell kill, but Texas Woman's took the match with a after a few key plays with a 25-23 win.

Stinnett led the Lady Rams with 13 kills.
Kristina Gafford posted 14 assists. Hendee notched eight kills and 13 digs in the match.

The Rams will head the Florida to compete in the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Tournament starting on Friday, August 29 with a match against Saint Thomas University (FL) at 2:00 pm and Northwest University at 7:00 pm.Â
