FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (6-9) dropped an 11-1 decision in the finale of a three-game series at LSU-Alexandria (10-6) on Saturday. LSUA had taken both games of a doubleheader from the Rams on Friday.
The Generals started hot and never looked back on Saturday. Randy Frederick led off the game with a single, and Jami Rachal, Mitch Huckabay, Adam Michel, and Garrett Friel later recorded consecutive RBI knocks. Michel's was a two-run double and LSUA took a quick 5-0 lead.
LSUA got an unearned run in the fourth and five more runs on four singles a walk and two hit batters in the ffith.
The Rams lone run came in the sixth, when
Jake Howeth reached on a leadoff error and later scored on a passed ball.
Ben Russell (1-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits in an inning of work. Adam Hines (1-0) worked six innings in the win. He allowed an unearned run on four hits while striking out five.
The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they host Dallas Christian College in a doubleheader at QuikTrip Park. Game one of that twin bill is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
