SHAWNEE, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (17-18, 9-6 SAC) was defeated by a final score of 5-1 at No. 7 Oklahoma Baptist University (37-4, 13-2 SAC) in the opener of a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series. 
The Rams actually jumped ahead in the contest when 
Rod Lewis singled in the second inning and later scored on a single from 
Jose Martinez. 
The Bison, who began this season 30-0, answered in the third with a two-run homer from Yariel Gonzalez.  OBU added an RBI single from Felipe Gonzalez in the fourth, an RBI double from Keach Ballard in the fifth and an RBI single from Ballard in the seventh to account for the 5-1 final score. 
Kelvin Rivas (8-0) took the win with seven innings pitched.  He allowed just the one run on four hits while striking out nine. 
Alex Lopez (1-4) took the loss after surrendering five runs on 10 hits while striking out three in seven innings of work.  
Bailey Laws worked a scoreless eighth inning in relief of Lopez. 
Shakeel Newton and Joey Szczepanski were both 3-for-4 at the plate, leading OBU's 12-hit attack. 
Texas Wesleyan and OBU will complete their three-game set with a doubleheader on Saturday.  Game one is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start. 
Ramblings
 - The Rams are now 6-3 all-time vs. OBU; however, the Bison have won each of the last three meatings. 
- The Bison lost four-straight after their 30-0 start and have since won seven in a row.
