FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (8-2) dropped a 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19) match to Dallas Baptist University at the Sid Richardson Center on Tuesday night.
 
The Lady Rams suffered from service woes early in the first set, and Wesleyan could never gain control from there. The Rams were down 11-6 before Keirsten Mebane and Abby Zipoy went back-to-back with kill to cut the lead 11-8. The Patriots allowed only six more points though, and took a 25-15 win.
 
The Lady Rams held their own in the second set after Zipoy posted a kill to tie the game at 10-10. The set was tied at 15 apiece before more Patriot defense held the TWU offense to only 2 points to take the set 25-17.
 
The Lady Rams made an 8-3 run capped by an Alanna Hayhurst and Mebane block to make it a 17-12 lead. Shelby Stinnett made it a 20-14 game with a kill, and Zipoy put the set away with a smash to win 25-21.
 
The Patriots made the proper adjustments and despite the Lady Rams putting pressure on Dallas Baptist the most of the game, the Patriots pulled out the fourth set to win 25-19.
 
The Lady Rams were led by Zipoy, who posted 13 kills and seven digs. Stinnett took down nine kills and 11 digs. Shaughnessy Hearn had 19 digs. Kristina Gafford notched 40 assists in the match.
 
The Lady Rams will travel to Wichita Falls, TX to take on Midwestern State University on Wednesday, September 9 starting 6:00 pm.
