Lady Rams Out Duel HTU, 4-2

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (3-1) outdueled Huston-Tillotson University (2-2) by a final score of 4-2 at Martin Field on Tuesday.

The Rams got things started right when Shrareh Asadi connected with Sabina Obidinski just 10:09 into the contest.  However, HTU responded with a goal from Victoria Elizalde in the 17th minute and another from Kimberlin Palacios just 52 seconds later.

The Lady Rams were unfazed and continued to pressure Huston-Tillotson.  In the 22nd minute it was Obidisnki feeding Asadi for the game-tying goal.  Asadi scored again in the 42nd minute, this time off an assist from Theresa Garsztecki to send the Rams to the break with a 3-2 advantage.

Texas Wesleyan came out firing in the second half, and Asadi assisted a Garsztecki goal in the 47th minute to cap the scoring at 4-2.

"It's another step in the process," commented head coach Josh Gibbs.  "We're becoming a better team every day.  I'm so proud of the girls for their commitment and hard work.  We have things to work on, but we have to be very excited with what we have going forward. Our potential to be great is there.  We just have to realize it."

For the game, Texas Wesleyan held a slim 17-16 edge in shots; however, they led 10-3 in shots on target.  Nikki Lockwood (3-1) made one save in the win, while Evelyn Martinez made six saves for HTU.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Friday, when they host the University of St. Thomas-Houston.  That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
