SILOAM SPRINGS, AR: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (7-8, 2-4 SAC) dropped a 72-55 game at John Brown University (10-8, 3-3 SAC) at Bill George Arena on Saturday.

The Lady Rams took a 6-2 run to start the game capped by an
Alycia Louallen jumper a fee minutes in, but the Golden Eagles took a 6-0 rally to gain an 8-6 lead.
Chervelle Cox went beast mode and went on a 6-0 run by herself to give Wesleyan a 12-8 advantage with 3:28 left in the opening quarter. The two teams continued at a back and forth pace as the quarter drew to a close with Texas Wesleyan on top 18-16.

The Golden Eagles started to get hot from behind the arc, putting together a 9-2 run with a trio of three pointers by three different JBU players to grab a 25-20 edge. The Golden continued to keep a slight advantage over the Lady Rams for the remainder of the quarter.
Katelynn Threats kept the Ram spirit up, knocking down a jumper with two minutes left in the half. Louallen hit another two point shot from midrange before the end of the half to make it just a 32-30 John Brown lead at the break.
The Lady Rams outshot the Golden Eagles 44 percent to 39 percent from the field in the first half, but went 0-5 from downtown. John Brown on the other hand, went 4-12 for 33 percent from behind the arc.
The Lady Rams were shut down in the third quarter and were held to only seven points. The opened the Golden Eagles up for a 22-7 run to take a commanding 54-17 advantage heading into the final frame.
JBU enjoyed a double-digit lead throughout the fourth as the Lady Rams tried to chop down the deficit. TWU kept fighting with an 8-0 rally capped by a Threats knock-down jumper to make it a 65-55. With only three minutes remaining, the Golden Eagles just killed the clock, shortening the possessions for the Lady Rams and forcing Wesleyan to have to shoot long range shots. Wesleyan could not close the gap, ending the game 72-55.\
Threats led all players with 20 points, adding five rebounds and a pair of steals playing all 40 minutes for the Lady Rams. Cox went 12 points and eight boards in the game.
Courtney Chargois posted 12 points and four steals in the loss.

The Lady Rams will look for a different outcome when they come home to host Wayland Baptist University on Thursday, January 21 starting at 6:00 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.Â
