Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late PK Delivers 2-1 Win over USAO

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (6-8-1, 3-2-1 SAC) used a pair of goals including a PK from Micah Day in the 80th minute to secure a 2-1 win over the University of Science & Arts (OK) (7-7-1, 2-3-1 SAC) at Martin Field on Tuesday.

The Sooner Athletic Conference's leading scorer wasted no time getting his team on the board.  Just 1:01 into the game, Juan Rey found Micah Day at the top of the box and Day beat two USAO defenders to deliver the ball to the back of the net.

That was the only shot on goal of the half for either team in what proved to be a thrilling defensive battle.  The game's next shot on the frame came 3:22 into the second half, and Owen Connelly tied the game with an assist from Llewellyn Evans.

Both teams got off four total shots in the first half, and both sides took seven attempts in the second half.

The game was decided in the 80th minute when Preston Baker drew a foul in the box.  Day stepped up to the mark and sent in his 12th goal of the season.

For the game, shots were even at 11 apiece.  The Drovers took nine corner kicks to just five for the Rams.  Texas Wesleyan overcame a 14-5 foul count.

Marko Jovanovic (6-7-1) made a pair of saves in the win, while Austen Parker and Chris Brown each made a stop for the Drovers.

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, when they host Oklahoma City University in their final regular season home game of the season.  That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start and will be preceded by senior day festivities.
