RIO MAR, PUERTO RICO: The 12th ranked Texas Wesleyan University women's golf team placed fourth at the University of Illinois Springfield's Island Getaway. The Rams shot 311 in each round on Rio Mar's Ocean Course to finish at 622.
Tarleton State backed up an opening round 288 with a final round 295 to hold off St. Leo by six shots at +15 for the tournament. St. Edwards placed third after Johany Rivera made up a two-stroke deficit with a second round of -1 (70) to snare the individual win amongst 43 individuals at even par (142). Rivera's big moment came on the par-5 5th where she knocked in the only eagle of the tournament.
For the second consecutive tournament, the Lady Rams were led by
Maisy Turner who notched a 12th place finish at +11.
Alex Schies was four shots further back in a tie for 17th.
Trudy Allen tied for 23rd, while
Elena Sinde Romero placed 26th and
Jacinda Chan tied for 28th.
The 5,483-yard par-71 Ocean Course played at an average score of 81.08. Turner had a steady hand, rating third in the field with 26 pars, just one behind Rivera and St. Leo's Margine Arguello
This was Texas Wesleyan's final outing of the fall semester. In the spring, the Rams will gear up for the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship as they set sail for a 3rd consecutive appearance in the NAIA National Championship.

- This was Texas Wesleyan's third consecutive appearance in the Island Getaway. They placed 2nd in 2014 and 6th in 2015.
- Texas Wesleyan pushed its streak of consecutive top-10 finishes to 12.
