STEPHENVILLE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (1-0) narrowly fell to Tarleton State University (0-0), 67-63 in an exhibition contest on Wednesday night.

In the first half the TexAnns led by as many as 11 before Wesleyan chopped the lead down to 30-27.
Bailey Broadnax tied the game at 47-47 on a jumper to start the final quarter, but could not take control of the lead. Tarleton State would turn the Lady Rams away more time after an
Ashlie Bruner triple made it 51 apiece and despite the close game Tarleton State never trailed in a 67-63 nail-biter.

TXWES shot 43 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line, while the TexAnns shot 43 percent from the field and 56 percent from the charity stripe. The Rams had four players in double-digits. Bruner led all players with 18. Broadnax finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Bria Jackson each tacked on 11 points.
