FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (8-15, 3-10 SAC) suffered an 84-73 loss to John Brown University (14-11, 7-6 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Thursday night.

JBU posted a 6-0 rally to start the game, as the Lady Rams seemed a bit out of sorts offensively in the first quarter. Kodee Powell hit a fast break three-pointer to extend the lead to 20-6 midway through the opening quarter.
Alycia Louallen nailed a jumper that capped a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 20-12. The Golden Eagles kept some distance on the Rams to end the first up 26-16. Â

The Golden Eagles kept the thrusters at full throttle, scoring at will and keeping a double digit lead throughout the second quarter to gain a 47-26 advantage at the break.

The Lady Rams forced the issue and found life in the second half.
Katelynn Threats got things started with a turn-around jumper in the paint that fueled a 14-3 run capped by a Louallen shot from downtown to cut the lead to 57-45 heading into the final quarter.

Texas Wesleyan kept the energy at a high level, but could not keep their opponent from scoring. The Golden Eagles nailed four three-pointers and 18 in a matter of minutes to jump out to a 75-56 advantage. Although Wesleyan kept shooting, the Rams failed to make enough stops on the defensive end taking an 84-73 loss.

The Lady Rams were led by Threats, who dished out 31 points on the night. Louallen hit 21 points and four boards in the game.
Chervelle Cox led all players with six rebounds, adding five points as well.
Falesha Fuller and
Leila Jdily-Ezzad both posted seven points each in the loss.

Both teams finished the game shooting well from the field. TWU shot 57 percent from the field, while the Golden Eagles shot 63 percent from the field in the offense dominated contest. John Brown posted an impressive 62 percent from behind the arc for the game.

The Lady Rams will continue their home stand with a "Think Pink" game promoting breast cancer awareness taking on Bacone College on Saturday, February 13 starting at 3:00 pm.
