GRAND PRAIRIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (7-7) made it four straight wins in the finale of the North Texas Softball Bash at Jennifer McFalls Park hosted by Lubbock Christian University. The Lady Rams took 7-5 win over Bethany College (KS) (1-6) before completing a valiant 9-8 come from behind victory over UT-Permian Basin (2-10) on Sunday.
Â
The Lady Rams faced off against the Bethany College (KS) Swedes in the finale of the round robin tournament.
Â
Hannah Tomme came through in a big spot in the top of the second that started a two out rally. With the bases loaded, the junior from Burleson beat out an infield single to score the first run of the game. Prachyl worked the count to earn a RBI walk before a
Kaley Batchlear single up the middle scored two more. Another walk had the bases juiced again before
Samantha Vasquez smashed a long, line drive double down the left field line scored all three to make it a 7-0 advantage.
Â
The Swedes threatened in the bottom of the fifth after a one out single down the right field line by Elizabeth Endsley set up an Alyssa Montoya bloop shot into shallow center to put runners on the corners.
Brittany Rosenberry and the Lady Rams got out of the inning to keep the shutout intact.
Â
Bethany College came out swinging early in the count to start the sixth inning, and it paid off in the form of three consecutive hits culminating in a three-run home run to straight away center field to make it a 7-3 ball game in the late goings. The Swedes added one more on a Kristen Crawford stand up triple that had eyes, skipping past two diving Lady Rams to make it a 7-4 ball game.
Â
The Swedes put two on in the bottom of the seventh to have the tying run at the plate with one out. Jordan Blakesly chopped a RBI single to left field to cut the lead to 7-5 with two away. The Lady Rams got the final out to hold off the Swedes for the win.
Â
Rosenberry (2-2) got the win in five innings of work. She gave up three runs on six hits.
Â
In the game versus UT-Permian Basin, the Falcons got rolling in the bottom of the first with a three run blast to centerfield by JJ Von Oesen for a 3-0 advantage early.
Â
Oesen did the same in the second inning, this time with the bases loaded for a grand slam to left field to make it a 7-0 lead.
Â
The Lady Rams got on the board in the fourth after

Â
The Falcons added one run in the fourth to extend the lead to an 8-1 advantage.
Â
Texas Wesleyan posted a two out rally in the sixth to cut into the lead. After Rosenberry sent a rocket down the left field line for a stand up double,
Lauren Davis rocketed the ball into the right center gap for RBI triple. Bailey Sugg drew a walk before
Shelby Reddington came up big in a pinch hit spot with a base hit through the left side.
Corrina Palomino answered with a line drive to deep center for a two RBI double. The Lady Rams batted around and
Lauren Gunter who flied out for the first out of the inning, went clutch mode and connected with ball for a two run base knock up the middle to cap a seven run rally and tie the game at 8 apiece.
Â
Texas Wesleyan completed the comeback and took a slight 9-8 lead in the top of the seventh. After Davis and Sugg posted back-to-back singles, Palomino hit a sailing shot to shallow center to knock in the go-ahead run.
Â
The Falcons put runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom half of the inning and seemed poised to spoil the comeback for the Rams. The Falcons ran into more clutch defense though, as Davis made a spectacular double play. The senior tracked down a low flying slow liner behind third base, made the catch, planted, turned the other way and fired a strike to Bailey Sugg to put out the lead runner.
Shelby Reddington made a quick reaction to glove a strong line drive for the third out to seal the come from behind victory. Â
