Lady Rams Post Two Shutouts Over SAGU

WAXAHACHIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (9-7, 2-0 SAC) posted a pair of 6-0 wins over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (2-19, 0-2 SAC) at Lady Lion Field on Tuesday.

The Lady Rams broke the game open in the top of the fourth inning, starting with a lead-off walk by Samantha Vasquez. The Lady Rams loaded the bases for a Lauren Gunter RBI double to the left center. The Lady Lions committed an error before Bailey Terry drove a run home with a single through the left side. Lauren Davis followed with a sacrifice fly to left field for a score. Another run scored on an infield error and the Rams grabbed a 6-0 advantage after four.

The Lady Rams managed a near flawless outing defensively, taking care of the Lady Lions to secure the shutout win.

Amanda Windham (4-3) turned in another masterful performance, tossing another two hit shut-out. The senior notched seven strikeouts and allowed just three walks in the win.

Hannah Tomme went 2 for 4 with one RBI. Brittany Rosenberry went 2 for 4. Lauren Gunter went 2 for 4 with a RBI. Terry went 2 for 3 with a RBI for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Rams got things going in the second game, once again in the fourth inning. Bailey Terry reached second on an error in the outfield, before Rosenberry made that mishap hurt by launching a line drive home run over the left field fence.

Texas Wesleyan added four more runs in the sixth that included a slew of singles that put runners in scoring position for a Dani West two RBI double down the left field line. Kayla Prachyl followed that up with a RBI line drive to right center to score two more to make it a 6-0 lead heading into the final inning.

Rosenberry (3-2) followed her counterpart with another complete game shutout win. The junior allowed just two runs and one walk, while sitting down four.

West and Prachyl each went 2 for 4 with two RBI. Tomme went 2 for 3, while Rosenberry went 1for 3 with two RBI in the win.

The Lady Rams will return home to take on Oklahoma City University on March, 8 in a double header starting at 2:00 pm at Sycamore Park.
