CHICKASHA, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (8-13, 3-8 SAC) took a 55-42 loss to the University of Science and Arts (OK) (3-13, 2-10 SAC) on Thursday.

The first quarter was a rather slow one for both teams despite the Lady Rams jumping out to an 8-0 lead capped by a
Leila Jdily-Ezzad lay-in. Texas Wesleyan only scored two points from their though, while holding the Drovers to seven points with a 10-7 lead through the first quarter.

USAO posted an 11-0 rally to tilt the tide, taking an 18-10 lead. Wesleyan answered with an 8-0 run to gain back a small 22-20 advantage capped by an
Alycia Louallen jumper. The Drovers scored before the buzzer to take a 23-22 edge at halftime.

The Rams came out in the third quarter with a 6-0 run capped by a
Katelynn Threats jumper to gain a 28-23 lead about three minutes in. That lead held for just a short time though, as the Drovers would take back the lead in the final minute of the quarter.
Courtney Chargois put in a layup with 1:44 left in the third to give the Rams a 35-31 edge before USAO grabbed a 7-0 rally to take a 38-35 advantage into the fourth.

Threats put in a layup to start the final frame, cutting the lead to 38-37. The Drovers kept shooting while keeping Wesleyan at bay.
Chervelle Cox got a steal and went coast to coast for two, making it a 46-43 game with 3 minutes left. The Drovers killed the clock while going on a 9-0 run to close the game out at 55-42.

The Lady Rams were held to 29 percent from the field, while the Drovers shot 38 percent from the field. Wesleyan had an off night from behind the arc, going 0-12 for the game. The Drovers also posted a plus seven from the charity stripe.

Threats led the Lady Rams with 21 points and seven boards. Cox tallied eight points and 11 rebounds.
Courtney Chargois posted five points.
Alycia Louallen tacked on four points and five rebounds in the game.

Texas Wesleyan will be back in action on Saturday, February 6 when they celebrate homecoming with a game against Southwestern Christian University at 3:00 pm in the Sid Richardson Center.Â
