SHERMAN, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (24-14) took a 12-0 win at Austin College (10-18) on Tuesday. The Rams exploded for 12 runs in the final two innings while
Ryan Chen and
Alex Lopez combined on a 1-hit shutout.
Chen (3-2) didn't allow a hit through the first five innings. With one out in the sixth, James Arguello ended the no-hit bid with a single through the right side. Chen allowed only the one hit and four walks while striking out four in six innings of work. Lopez struck out the side in the seventh.
The Rams collected five hits and two walks in the first five innings but Roo pitching stranded four base-runners to keep the game scoreless.
In the sixth inning, things escalated quickly. The Rams strung five hits together with an RBI single from
Blake Seaton, a single from
Jonathan Bravo, an RBI double from
James Ziegler, and RBI singles from
Lorenzo Lynch and
Jake Davis. With two outs and the bases loaded,
Erick Quesada doubled down the leftfield line, and
Casey Moses added an RBI single. When the smoke cleared, the Rams had plated seven runs on seven hits a walk and an error.
The offense picked up right where they left off in the seventh. Bravo started the inning with his second homer of the season.
Dylan Measells added a pinch-hit two-run double and
Hayden Muns delivered a pinch-hit two-run single to push the score to 12-0.
The Rams pounded out 17 hits (12 in the final two innings). Lynch went 3-for-4 with a 2B, RBI, and 2 runs scored. Quesada (2-4), Moses (2-4),
Garrett Crook (2-4), and Bravo (2-5) all had multiple hits.
The Rams will return to action this weekend with a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series against 22nd ranked Wayland Baptist University. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for a 2:00pm start with Saturday's finale set for an 11:00am first-pitch. All three games will be played at The Ballpark in Grand Prairie.

- Tuesday's game was the fourth shutout of the season tossed by Texas Wesleyan pitchers.
- The 7-run sixth was the Rams' highest scoring inning of the season. They scored six runs in the fourth inning against Dallas Christian College in their previous game.
