HOUSTON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (1-4) suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the University of St. Thomas-Houston (3-2) on Monday.
The contest ended a brutal stretch of three games in four days for the Lady Rams.
A fatigued TXWES offense struggled to get going and was not credited with a shot in the first half.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Lauren Bond made a second consecutive start and posted another double figure save performance. Bond made five stops in the first half and allowed only a Yarimar Vazquez goal in the 42nd minute.
The score remained 1-0 until Vazquez played a corner kick that was finished by Chelsea York in the 89th minute.
Bond made 10 saves in the game to offset a 24-4 shot count.
The Rams will get some much needed rest before returning to the friendly confines of Martin Field on Friday when they host Jarvis Christian College. That game is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.
