FORT WORTH, TX: The 8th ranked Texas Wesleyan University women's golf team shot a final round 314 to move up to a tie for 3rd at the Texas Intercollegiate presented by Metro Golf Cars at Hawks Creek. Junior
Alex Schies finished as the individual runner-up at 8-over par.
The University of the Incarnate Word held at least a share of the lead at the conclusion of all three rounds. The Cardinals shot the only sub-300 round of the tournament at 297 on Tuesday to secure the victory. Their 54-hole total of 921 was 25 strokes ahead of McLennan College. The Lady Rams, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Angelo State all tied for 3rd at 953.
Schies, the defending champion at this event, held the lead entering the final round, but UIW's Madison Frerking shot even part to finish one shot ahead of Schies at 223.
Freshman
Trudy Allen was also named to the All-Tournament team in her first collegiate event with a top-10 individual finish. Allen finished at 229 to place 7th in the field of 60 individuals
The Lady Rams will return to action at Dallas Baptist's Women's Classic at the Golf Club of Dallas October 10-11.
