Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rams Breeze By Tigers, 6-1

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (3-4) breezed to a 6-1 victory over Paul Quinn College (2-3) at Martin Field on Monday.

The Tigers managed to keep the game close in the first half.  Micah Day looked as though he had the Rams on the board in the 8th minute when a shot from George Battersby hit the crossbar and found Day in front of the net, but he was ruled offside and his goal disallowed.

Anthony Atilola did find the net in the 18th minute, and that 1-0 margin held at the half.

In the 58th minute a strong goal kick from Marko Jovanovic sent the ball into the Paul Quinn 18.  The Tigers failed to clear the ball, and Day scored for Texas Wesleyan.

In the 77th minute, Alejandro Rey and Kian Hosseinpour connected a pair of passes that finished with Day's second goal of the night.

The Rams poured it on in the final 10 minutes.  Rey scored off a rebounded shot in the 81st minute, and Preston Baker settled the issue with a goal that pushed the score to 5-0 less than a minute later.

TheTtiger's lone goal came on a penalty kick in the 84th minute, but Brandon Head got that one back in the 89th minute to account for the 6-1 final score.

The Rams dominated the ball to the tune of a 34-15 shot count (16-6 on goal), and an 11-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Jovanovic (3-2) made five saves to preserve the victory.

The Rams will return to action on Thursday, when they host Wiley College.  That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start at Martin Field.
