FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-6, 1-0 SAC) took an impressive 5-0 win over St. Gregory's University (4-4, 0-1 SAC) in their Sooner Athletic Conference opener at Martin Field Tuesday night.
Micah Day put the Rams ahead early with his conference leading 8th goal of the season just 8:47 into the game. In the 20th minute, Day sparked a beautiful sequence that resulted in
Anthony Atilola's third goal of the year. Day ripped a close range shot that was saved by SGU's Adrian Cole. The ball rebounded high in the air setting up a bicycle kick from Day that hit the back post, and Atilola was there to put the ball in the net.
Eder Falcon found a streaking
Brandon Head in the 37th minute, and the Rams were well in command at 3-0 through the first half.
The second half was all Texas Wesleyan as the Rams outshot the Cavaliers 14-4 in the period. Head added a second goal in the 82nd minute (again assisted by Falcon), and
Uriel Pacheco capped the scoring at 5-0 with a goal in the 85th minute.
For the game, the Rams outshot the Cavs 23-11 (13-3 in shots on goal) and led 5-3 in corner kicks.
Marko Jovanovic (4-5) made three saves to preserve his second shutout of the season. Cole made eight saves in the loss.
The Rams will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Plainview, TX, to take on Wayland Baptist University.

- The win levelled the all-time series with SGU 5-5, while the Rams improved to 15-12-2 all-time in SAC play. The all-time series with Wayland Baptist is currently tied 3-3.
