SHAWNEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women's soccer team (10-2, 5-1 SAC) held on for a 1-0 win at St. Gregory's University (5-6-1, 1-3-1 SAC) on Saturday.
"A tough day," Head Coach Josh Gibbs said following the contest. "The girls fought really hard on some tired legs. Even though we weren't great, it's a great result to get at the end of a long trip. Time to rest up and focus on another dangerous team in SAGU on Tuesday."
The lone goal of the game came in the 16th minute, when Tameir Grosvenor played a corner kick into the box and Mattie Morris finished with a header.
The Rams outshot the Cavaliers 21-6 in the contest, but SGU's Mallory Adams came up with 10 saves to keep her team close.
Christy Zwart (9-1) made three saves to preserve her fourth shutout of the season.
The Rams are back in action on Tuesday, when they host Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Sooner Athletic Conference action. That game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Martin Field.
