Drovers Take 4-1 Win Over Rams

CHICKASHA, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-9-1, 2-5-1 SAC) suffered a 4-1 loss in Sooner Athletic Conference competition at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (10-4-1, 5-2 SAC) on Saturday.

The Drovers took the lead almost immediately when Conor Fay scored 3:53 into the contest.  Bastian Blumenberg limited USAO to just the one goal in the first half, but Juan Lucas started the second half with strikes in the 54th and 62nd minutes.  Joseph Robb made it 4-0 off of Llewellyn Evans' third assist of the night in the 69th minute.

The Rams took a corner kick in the 86th minute and drew a foul in the box.  Senior Ross McArthur delivered his third goal of the season on the ensuing penalty kick to get Texas Wesleyan on the board.

Blumenberg made four saves in the loss, while USAO's George Connolly made five saves in the win.  The Drovers outshot the Rams 19-11 and led 5-2 in corner kicks.

The Rams will play their final home game of the season on Saturday, October 28, when they host Wayland Baptist University.  That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will be preceded by Senior Day festivities.

Ramblings

- The Rams are now 19-21-5 all-time in SAC play, while USAO extended its lead in the all-time series to 8-3-1.  The Rams will look to level the all-time series with Wayland Baptist at 4-4 with a win next Saturday.

- Texas Wesleyan will square off with Wayland Baptist in four different sports on Saturday.  Texas Wesleyan will host WBU in Football (2 p.m.), Women's Soccer (5 p.m.) and Men's Soccer (7 p.m.) while the Pioneers will play host to the Lady Rams Volleyball team at (12 p.m.).
