Pioneers top Rams on Senior Day

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University Men's Soccer team (4-10-1, 2-6-1 SAC) suffered a 4-1 loss against No. 23 Wayland Baptist University (13-2-1, 7-1-1 SAC) on Senior Day at Martin Field Saturday night.

Prior to the game, the Rams honored seniors Dominik Hueble, Uriel Pacheco, Micah Day, Yohan Shirazi, Luis Pumarejo, and Ross McArthur for their outstanding contribution the TXWES Men's Soccer Program.

The Pioneers stayed in range of a Sooner Athletic Conference regular season championship with the win.  WBU trails No. 24 Southwestern Christian by just two points in the standings.  If the Pioneers defeat SAGU in their final regular season game, they would claim that top spot in the SAC standings.

James Quinn tied the game off an assist from Ricardo Ramos just before halftime.

In the second half, the Pioneers got unassisted goals from Alex Castillo and James Quinn in the 48th and 61st minutes.  Quin nthen assisted James Westfield in the 78th minute to cap the scoring at 4-1.

Wayland outshot Texas Wesleyan 23-7 in the game and led 9-1 in corner kicks.

Bastian Blumenberg made seven saves in the loss.  Wayland's Ziggy Camejo needed just one save to preserve the win.

The Rams will play their regular season finale on Halloween when they travel to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-America Christian University.  That game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
