ALEXANDRIA, LA: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (5-3) split the first day of the 2017 LSUA Softball Invitational at Generals Field on Friday. The Lady Rams won an 11-0 game in five innings over Grambling State University before falling 5-4 in walk-off fashion to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Rams pounced on the Tigers early after
Kayla Prachyl worked the count for a walk, leading to a
Bailey Terry RBI base hit bunt for a 1-0 lead. Prachyl and Terry connected again for a run in the third before taking a three run rally in inning four. A wild pitch scored one,
Dani Jackson got a RBI with a bases loaded walk, and Terry capped the inning with a RBI single through the left side of the infield for a 5-0 advantage.

Texas Wesleyan stayed hot this time with a six run, seven hit fifth inning. The Lady Rams batted around as
Hannah Tomme started the scoring with a RBI base hit. Prachyl cleared the bases with a three RBI triple to right center before
Brittany Rosenberry beat the center fielder for a RBI double to deep center to cap the drive, making it an 11-0 game.

The Rams shut down the Tigers in the bottom of the inning to secure the run-rule win.
Lauren Wernet (3-1) was effective in four innings of work, limiting the opponent to no runs on one hit, to go along with two walks and three strikeouts.
Justine Cielenski threw one inning of spotless baseball in the win.

Terry went 3 for 4 with four RBI. Prachyl went 2 for 2 with two walks, three RBI, and three runs scored.

TXWES took another early lead against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions after Prachyl earned a lead-off single to shortstop. The junior from Ennis, TX stole second to set up a
Lauren Gunter RBI base hit to right center for a 1-0 edge in the first inning. The Lady Rams added two more runs in the second inning on another Prachyl RBI single to left before Terry hit a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead.

The Lions got on the board in the fourth inning after a Shanice Akins two RBI single to right center that made it a one run game.

The Rams got a run back in the top of the fifth on a Gunter RBI smash to deep center field for a double.

UAPB came back in the bottom of the inning after a Paige Garcia home run to right field with a runner on base leveled the game at 4 apiece.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff ended the game in the bottom of the seventh with a Tonnay Hawkins inside the park, walk-off home run to left center to lift the Lions to a 5-4 win.

Prachyl had an outstanding showing on the day with a 3 for 4 game with one RBI and two stolen bases. Gunter went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI, while
Demi Dotson went 2 for 3 in the loss.

The Lady Rams will start day two with a 2:00 p.m. game versus Lindenwood University-Belleville before taking on Arkansas Pine-Bluff again at 4:00 p.m.
