ALEXANDRIA, LA: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (7-4) added a pair of wins in day two of LSUA Softball Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Rams won a 4-2 battle with Lindenwood University-Belleville (1-2) before using a late rally to get past NCAA DI Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-7) 7-9 in the night cap.
 
The Lynx took a 1-0 edge in the top of the third before the Lady Rams responded by tying the game in the bottom of the inning. Kayla Prachyl punched a lead-off triple to right center before Bailey Terry got the run home on a base hit bunt.
 
The Lynx got another lead in the fourth, but again the Rams responded with a three run rally. One run scored on an error before Prachyl hit a RBI rip up the middle. Bailey Terry capped the drive with a RBI sacrifice fly to center field for a 4-2 advantage the Rams would not relinquish.
 
Lauren Wernet improved to 4-1 with a complete game performance. Wernet allowed two runs, one earned on three hits, had one walk and six strikeouts. Prachyl went 2 for 3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Terry went 1 for 3 with two RBI. Samantha Vasquez went 2 for 3 in the win.
 
Texas Wesleyan got into a shootout with the Golden Lions in game two. Arkansas-Pine Bluff took two runs in the first, but the Rams fired back with a four run rally in the bottom of the first. Lauren Gunter knocked in the first run on a RBI single. Vasquez followed that with a RBI base hit into center field to make way for a Kaylee Davenport RBI double down the right field line. Corrina Palomino capped the rally with a single to center to plate a run for a 4-2 lead.
 
UAPB put up three more runs in the second inning for a 5-4 edge. Not to be out done, Texas Wesleyan piled on two more runs with a Terry two RBI single to regain the lead at 6-5. The Lions would make their last push in the sixth, tying the game 7-7, but TXWES was not entertaining comeback attempts. The Lady Rams quickly tacked on two runs in the bottom half of the inning on Terry bomb over the left field fence to take a 9-7 lead that would become the final score.
 
Paulina Quintana notched her first career win in two innings of relief work. She allowed a run (none earned), on one hit and two strikeouts. Terry went 3 for 5 with five RBI. Vasquez went 2 for 3, and Davenport went 2 for 4 with one RBI in the game.
 
The Lady Rams will take on host LSU-Alexandria on February 19 at noon in the finale of the tournament.
