Rams Take Sunday Matinee 10-2 Over McPherson

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (8-3) breezed to a 10-2 victory against McPherson College (6-6) at Sycamore Park on Sunday morning.  Game two of the doubleheader was canceled due to the threat of impending rain.

The Rams opened things up in the second inning.  A leadoff double from Kiki Menendez, singles from Caden Williams, Casey Moses, and Alex Gudac, as well as a McPherson fielding error accounted for a 4-run frame.

The Bulldogs got a run back in the third, but Kiki Menendez touched off a three-run bomb to straight away center in the bottom of the inning.
McPherson scored again in the fifth, but the Rams loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning.  An RBI single from Gudac, an RBI grounder from Luis Roman, and a sac fly from Dylan Measells capped the scoring at 10-2.

Alex Lopez (1-0) tossed a complete game (7 innings) and scattered nine hits allowing only two runs and striking out four.  Soren Yarnall (1-2) took the loss after allowing 7 runs (5 earned) on six hits in two innings pitched.

Both teams collected nine hits.  Menendez (2-for-2), Williams (2-for-2) and Brooks Wallace (2-for-3) each had a pair.

The Rams will return to action this weekend when they host a 3-game set with Our Lady of the Lake University.  Friday's series opener is set for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.  Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 12:00 p.m.
