SHREVEPORT, LA: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (16-7) took a convincing 16-3 win at No. 13 LSU-Shreveport (18-6) on Tuesday.
The Rams put this game away early, putting up a seven-spot in the top of the first inning.
Casey Moses,
Julio Ibarra, and
Luis Roman started things off with a single, double, and single to set the tone. The inning also included RBI from
Blake Seaton,
Alex Gudac,
Kiki Menendez, and
Garrett Crook as the Rams sent 12 men to the plate.
That monster inning was just the first of two for Texas Wesleyan. In the fourth, the Rams sent 13 men to the plate and scored eight runs on eight hits and two walks. Eight of the first nine men to the plate all found safe passage around the bases. Ibarra and
Caden Williams each had a double and a single in the frame. Moses added a two-run single, while Gudac and Crook also drove in runs.
The Pilots were down 15-0 before they finally cracked the scoreboard with two runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth.
The Rams capped the scoring with an RBI single from
Casey Moses in the seventh.
All nine starters hit safely in the game as Texas Wesleyan racked up a season-high 19 hits.
Aidan Laurini went 4-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Ibarra was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. Moses, Williams, Seaton, and
Chandler Schoelkopf each had two hits in the game.
Evan Rogers (4-2) worked six innings allowing three runs on nine hits to earn the win. Cade Gibson allowed seven runs, three earned, on five hits in one inning of work in the loss.
The Rams and Pilots will play the finale of their season-series tomorrow. That game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at Pilot Field.
