WAXAHACHIE, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (16-11, 4-4 SAC) added a pair of conference wins at Southwestern Assemblies of God on Monday. The Lady Rams edged the Lady Lions 2-1 in game one before cruising to an 8-1 win in game two.

The Lady Rams started day with a 1-0 lead in the second, after a wild throw by SAGU pitcher Rachel Ray allowed
Kaley Batchlear to score on a three base error.

The Lady Lions tied the ball game in the fourth inning after Kristin Stringer doubled to left, scoring Destinee Vindiola from first.

SAGU was able to get a runner to third in the sixth inning, but
Brittany Rosenberry (5-3) and the Lady Rams shut the door to keep the game square. Despite tallying nine hits, the Lady Rams stranded eight runners and the Lady Lions were able to force extra innings.

Lauren Wernet launched a sharply hit ball into right field to score the go-ahead run in the eighth, making it a 2-1 Lady Ram edge. Â Â

The Lions put runner at the corners with just one away in the bottom of the inning, put TXWES turned a 6-3-2 double play to seal the win.

Rosenberry was sharp in her sixth complete game win of the season. She allowed a run on five hits, walked one, and struck out five.
Lauren Gunter led the Rams at the plated with 3 for 4 game.

In game two, the Lady Rams opened scoring in the first on a Gunter sacrifice fly to deep right, and tacked on another in the second on a
Kayla Prachyl base hit through the left side for a 2-0 advantage.

SAGU threatened in the bottom of the second by loading the bases with one out, but were turned away on a
Justine Cielenski strike out and Gunter throw out play to keep a two-run lead.

Texas Wesleyan took advantage of a pair of errors in the fourth, leading to three unearned runs.
Demi Dotson got one home on a sacrifice bunt before Prachyl capped the inning with a RBI ground out for a 5-0 advantage. Â

The Lady Lions got on the board in the sixth with a Kayla Milstead double to deep left field, but
Sidney Stewart got Adriana Alonzo on a swinging strikeout to limit SAGU to one run.

The Rams exploded for three extra base hits in the seventh, leading to three more scores. Prachyl led off the inning with an opposite field double to left center, before
Bailey Terry knocked in a pair of run on a two bagger to left.
Paulina Quintana followed with a double to right to cap the four hit inning and an 8-1 lead that would be the eventual final.

Cielenski (2-0) picked up the win. She tossed five scoreless innings on three hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. Wernet went 3 for 4, Prachyl went 2 for 4 with two RBI, and Terry went 1 for 3 with a pair of RBI in the win. Â

The Lady Rams continue their six game road stretch in a conference double header with Saint Gregory's University on Friday, March 31. Game one is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start at the Ballfields at Firelake in Shawnee, OK.
