FORT WORTH, TX: The 15th ranked Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (22-7) used a 7-run fifth inning to top Arlington Baptist College (7-18) by a final score of 9-6 at Sycamore Park on Friday.
The Rams got and RBI single from
Luis Roman in the first, but the Patriots put two on the board in the second. After the Rams left the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, former Ram
Lorenzo Lynch doubled and scored to make it 3-1 in the third.
With two on and one out in the fifth,
Aidan Laurini put the Rams on top with a ground-rule double. That sparked the Rams' offense. Texas Wesleyan racked up seven runs on eight hits in the inning including doubles by Laurini and
Alex Gudac.
The Patriots strung together three hits to score two runs in the seventh, and then loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth. However,
Wade Regas entered to put the issue to rest. Regas allowed only a ninth inning solo home run to Lynch while recording the final four outs.
Regas locked down his fourth save of the season while
Alex Lopez (5-1) worked seven innings, allowing five runs (four earned) and striking out four in the win.
Casey Moses (2-4),
Blake Seaton (2-3), and
Kiki Menendez (2-4) all had multi-hit days as the Rams outhit the Patriots 13-10.
Lynch was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run for Arlington Baptist.
The two teams will complete their three-game series with a doubleheader at Sycamore Park on Saturday. Game one is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
