FORT WORTH, TX: The 15th ranked Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (24-7) finished a three-game sweep of Arlington Baptist College (7-20) by taking both ends of a doubleheader at Sycamore Park on Saturday. The Rams won with scores of 9-4 and 10-2. The victories push Texas Wesleyan's winning streak to eleven consecutive games.
In game one,
Casey Moses doubled on the first pitch of the game and later scored on a sac fly from
Aidan Laurini.
The Rams made it 5-0 with four more runs in the second. Moses and Laurini each knocked in a run, while
Luis Roman delivered a 2-run double.
The Patriots put up single tallies in the third and fourth innings, but Roman tacked on a two-out RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth.
Texas Wesleyan turned on the power in the fifth inning.
Caden Williams blasted a two-run homer, and
Kiki Menendez followed with a triple off the wall in left-center that chased Arlington Baptist starter Colton Glover from the game. A sac fly from
Dylan Measells pushed the score to 9-2.
Stephen Yancey (5-2) worked a complete game (7 innings) for the win. He allowed four runs (two earned) on nine hits while striking out a season-high eight.
Moses paced the Rams' 10 hit attack by going 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Roman was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and three RBI's.
Aidan Laurini and
Caden Williams each drove in a pair.
In game two, the Rams scored first when Laurini was able to stay in a rundown between first and second long enough for Moses to score.
In the second, doubles from Williams and Menendez followed by a two-run homer from
Garrett Crook made it 4-0.
Arlington Baptist got one back in the third with a two-out run-scoring triple from James Duvall.
Menendez led off the fourth with another double and later scored on a wild pitch. The Rams batted around in the inning and scored three runs on three hits and three walks.
ABC's
Lorenzo Lynch drove in a run with a two-out single in the fifth. In the bottom of the inning, Menendez proved that he could do no wrong. A ground ball to second took a wicked hop that resulted in his third consecutive double. He then got in a rundown between second and third, but successfully retreated to second. Then, on a groundball from
Dylan Measells, the Patriots tried to get Menendez at third, but the throw sailed and the junior out of Austin came all the way around to score.
Texas Wesleyan capped the scoring at 10-2 with a double from
Julio Ibarra and RBI singles from
Caden Williams and Menendez.
Evan Rogers (6-2) worked the final four innings to earn the win. He allowed a run on five hits while striking out two.
Menendez went 4-for-4 at the plate with 3 doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored. Roman and Williams each went 2-for-4.
The Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Abilene, TX, to take on McMurry University. That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.

- During Texas Wesleyan's current 11-game winning streak, the have outscored their opponents 114-28. The team is batting .381 during the streak while they have scored at least eight runs in nine straight and ten of the eleven games.
- The Rams now lead the all-time series with Arlington Baptist 5-1. The Rams lead their next opponent, McMurry, 6-3 all-time.
