Lady Rams Game One Comeback Fuels Game Two Romp At MACU

EDMOND, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (23-14, 11-7 SAC) made a game one comeback to win 5-3 before powering to 9-1 victory in game two against Mid-America Christian University (12-30, 3-15 SAC) at Tom Heath Field on Saturday.

Due to field conditions at MACU's Jack Allen softball field, the double header was moved to Oklahoma Christian's Tom Heath Field.

In game one, Justine Cielenski posted five scoreless innings to go along with five strikeouts.

Kayla Prachyl led off the game with a base hit to center before Lauren Gunter hit a RBI sacrifice fly to center field for a 1-0 lead.  Kaylee Davenport added a run in the fifth on a double for a 2-0 edge.

MACU put together three runs in the sixth on a two out rally for a one-run advantage heading into the final inning.

The Lady Rams responded with three runs, starting with a Bailey Terry RBI single to left. Gunter followed that up with a two-run double to left field for a 5-3 lead they would not relinquish.

In game two, TXWES took a 4-0 lead with a second inning rally. Davenport singled home a run before Prachyl added two more with a base hit to left. Dani Jackson capped the inning with a sacrifice fly.

The Evangels plated a run in the third, but the Rams dominated the rest of the contest. Texas Wesleyan added three more in the fourth, starting with a Jackson RBI triple. Gunter and Brittany Rosenberry each batted in a run for an 8-1 advantage.

The Rams would go on to win the game 9-1 and complete the sweep. Rosenberry (7-5) earned the complete game win. The senior from Georgia allowed one run on five hits with three strikeouts.
