Rams Blast Bacone 98-67

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men's basketball team (10-6, 6-3 SAC) stayed hot with a convincing 98-67 win over Bacone College (3-13, 0-7 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.
 
This game was never in doubt as six Rams reached double-figures in scoring. 
 
In the early going, a Ryan Harris three-pointer sparked an 11-2 run that put the Rams on top 24-13.  The lead ballooned to as many as 19 (41-22) before the Rams took a 49-35 lead into the break.
 
After going 18-for-38 (47.4%) from the field and putting 49 points on the board in the first half, the Rams went 18-for-38 and put 49 more points on the board in the second half.
 
Bacone never got closer than the 14-point differential at halftime, and trailed by 20 or more for the final 12 minutes of the game.
 
Texas Wesleyan's 98 points were scored by seven players, six of whom put up double-figures.  Branden Jenkins and Juwan Jones led the way with 22 and 21 points respectively.  Ryan Harris added 17 points.  Curtiss Anderson had 11 points and four blocked shots, and Sam Smith posted 10 points and seven assists.
 
DeMarcus Emanuel earned 18 minutes of playing time and rewarded the coaching staff with a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds.  Jeremy Crane collected the remaining seven points for the Rams.
  Texas Wesleyan outshot Bacone 47%-39% from the floor and posted a +13 (51-38) rebounding margin.  They outscored the Warriors 20-6 off of turnovers and 22-2 in transition.
 
Bacone was led by Kevin Pritchett's 18 points.  Corey Swift posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
 
The Rams will return to action on Monday, when they make the short trip down US 287 to Waxahachie, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University.  That game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start.
 
Ramblings
 
- Texas Wesleyan leads the all-time series with Bacone 22-8.  They are now 44-38 all-time in SAC play.
 
- The Rams lead the all-time series with SAGU 27-9.  The Lions were 7-6 against the Rams under Head Coach Donnie Bostwick in the last six seasons; however, SAGU is now under the direction of Delton Deal who has the Lions off to an 11-5 start in his first season.
 
- DeMarcus Emanuel, a senior from Houston, TX, posted career-highs in points and rebounds while notching the first double-double of his two-year Texas Wesleyan career.
