Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Cameron Irvine

Robinson makes history but Lady Rams come up short

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Despite Sasha Robinson's triple double and a hot start, Texas Wesleyan Volleyball (16-9, 12-3 SAC) fell to Oklahoma City (22-3, 13-2 SAC) and two games back of second place with six to go (since Oklahoma City swept the season series) - 20-25, 25-22, 12-25, 19-25.

Robinson was extraordinary, registering a team high 12 kills, a team high 25 digs, a team high 20 assists and a team high 2 service aces. While none of those numbers were career highs, Robinson became the first player to lead the Lady Rams in four different categories in a single game since historical single-game stats became readily available when Texas Wesleyan joined the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2013.

The Lady Rams struggled to hold momentum on the road in tight Sets 1 and 4. Up 18-15, the Stars went on a 10-2 run to close out the opening game, led by Marijana Bjelobrk who recorded 20 kills to an astounding one attacking error. In Set 4, Texas Wesleyan tied the game at 17 thanks to three OKC attacking errors and kills from Robinson and Jasmine Creek, who also turned in 12 kills Friday. Six of the Stars' last eight points came on unfortunate errors by the Lady Rams, just missing out on forcing a fifth set.

Texas Wesleyan won digs (101-98), aces (3-2) and blocks (8-2) in the loss. Creek earned a double-double with 18 digs to go along with her 12 spikes. Chastiny Brown turned in another 11-kill, 0-error offensive night - her second such performance in three games. In the last three matches, Brown has 31 kills to just four attacking errors. Brenda Pargas pitched in 19 assists while Brianna Sitton helped Robinson defensively with 23 digs.

The Lady Rams took command of a three-point victory in the second frame thanks to a 5-0 run that included four Stars' errors and a Creek kill.

Losing against the Stars on the road is a fate almost every team on a Stars schedule has recently faced. Oklahoma City improved to 8-0 at home in 2018 and has won 41 of their last 42 home matches. The only team to defeat Oklahoma City in their building during that stretch was Our Lady of the Lake University in 2016 - a non-conference game. The last time the Stars lost a SAC game at home was against Texas Wesleyan: November 8th, 2014.

WHAT'S NEXT
Texas Wesleyan faces Southwestern Christian Saturday afternoon, an Eagle team that took the Lady Rams to a five-set thriller earlier this season in Fort Worth. Southwestern Christian is coming off a four-set loss to SAC unbeaten Southwest Assemblies of God, who will be in Oklahoma City Saturday for a rematch of the top two teams in the current conference standings. SAGU is the next opponent to come to the Sid Richardson Center - Tuesday October 30.
