FORT WORTH, TX: The 18th ranked Texas Wesleyan University Baseball team (15-7) took a 13-4 win over LSU Alexandria (10-14) at Sycamore Park on Wednesday.
For the second consecutive game, the Rams churned out 13 runs, this time racking up 16 hits.
Kiki Menendez and
Donnie Lopez keyed the offensive effort. Menendez went 4-for-5 at the plate and was just a triple short of the cyle with two home runs, a double, eight RBI, and three runs scored. A day after going 7-for-8 in a doubleheader at LSU Shreveport, Lopez went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored.
The Rams scored in every inning but the first. After the Rams tallied an unearned run in the second, Menendez touched off a two-run homer in the third.
Joseph Barfield notched an RBI single in the fourth, and Menendez blasted a three-run shot in the fifth.
Menendez knocked in two more with a single in the sixth and then scored on a single from
Nick Asaro.
Ryan Breaud doubled and scored in the seventh, and Menendez got back to work with an RBI double in the eighth.
The Generals plated two runs in the fifth and two more in the eighth.
Corley Huffstickler (2-2) earned the win with three innings of relief work, allowing two runs on four hits.
Dusty Cloud started the game and worked four scoreless frames.
The Rams are back in action Friday and Saturday with a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series against Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Friday's opener will be played at Sycamore Park at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will be played in Waxahachie, TX, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
