Rams Finish Off Dallas Christian To Complete Sweep, Run Streak To Nine

FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (22-7) soared to nine straight wins by taking a pair of decisive wins over Dallas Christian College (2-20) at Sycamore Park on Saturday. The Rams blanked the Crusaders 6-0 before opening the flood gates with a 21-1 game two win.

In game one, TXWES scored in all but two innings, while the Ram defense was stingy to the Crusader bats.

Kaden Brown doubled to start an 11 hit game in the first inning, before Ted Wisdom brought the run home. Brown did the same in the second inning to set up a Donnie Lopez RBI single through the left side for a 3-0 lead.

Kiki Menendez got in on the action in the fourth, with a two-run double to deep center field. Jacob Barfield put a bow on game one with a majestic solo shot to left field, and the Rams shutout Dallas Christian, 6-0.

Brad Sugg (6-0) notched a complete game shutout. The senior from Burleson, TX allowed just three hits to go along with one walk, while striking out a career-high nine batters.

Menendez went 2 for 3 with three RBI and a pair of doubles. Brown went 3 for 4 in the lead-off spot. Lopez had a 2 for 3 game with a RBI. Jacob Barfield went 1 for 2 with homer in the win.

In game two, the Cruader pitchers were completely outmatched, as the Ram put up back-to-back eight run innings in the second and third. TXWES scored three more to rub it in, pelting the Dallas Christian with 19 hits and taking the 21-1 blowout win.

Corley Huffstickler (4-2) earned the win. He threw all seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits. The senior from Frisco, TX walked none while sitting down a career-high 11 hitters.

Wisdom went 1 for 2 and five RBI, including a grand slam home run (2) to left-center. Chandler Schoelkopf went 4 for 4 with a RBI. Lopez went 2 for 2 with a pair of RBI. Gallegos went 2 for 3 and two RBI with a home run (2). Julio Ibarra also hit a bomb (2), going 2 for 4 with two RBI.

The Rams will hit the road, travelling to McPherson, KS for a conference series with Central Christian College on Friday, March 30. The doubleheader is scheduled for a noon start.
