FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University football team held its annual Blue and Gold game at Farrington Field on Saturday afternoon. The Blue team held off the Gold team 10-7.
There was a touch of cool fall-like weather in the air this afternoon in Fort Worth's cultural district as the rain held off to make for a great day of Ram football.
Make sure to mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 15th for the second annual TXWES Football Happy Hour at Rahr & Sons Brewery at 701 Galveston Ave in Fort Worth. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and admission is 25 dollars. That includes drinks, food catered by Chimy's Cerveceria, and an exclusive TXWES Rams pint glass.
The Rams had 43 signees on hand for the festivities who were recognized on the field between the third and fourth quarters.

Jermarcus Jones got the offense moving with the first first-down of the game for the Blue team on an 11-yard carry, part of a six-minute drive the ended in six points.
Erik Richards capped the drive with an 8-yard pass to
Cole Maxwell on a corner route to the back corner of the end zone for an early 6-0 lead for Blue.
Bryce Nye tacked on the extra point.
Martreveus Jackson caught a beautiful 50-yard over the shoulder pass from Richards to set up first and goal with under one-minute left in the opening stanza. The Gold team held tough though, and Blue settled for 27-yard Nye field goal to make a 10-0 game.
Diamond Williams led off of the second quarter by picking off a pass for the Gold team. That setup a 55-yard catch and run from
Avery Childs to
Rodney Cooper. Childs laced one through double coverage on a post and Cooper outran the defense for the score. That cut the lead to a 10-7 Blue team lead.
Richards hit
Cole Maxwell over the middle for a long gainer late the in second and the Blue team drove inside the 10-yard line but couldn't punch it in before time ran out.
Defense abounded in the third quarter as the two offenses were held in check. Marquise Melton fired up the crowd with an interception to start the quarter before the elusive Davonte Mitchell-Dixon gained 21 yards on a screen, dodging defenders down the sideline to set up first and ten just outside the red zone for the Blue team. Geary Jones spoiled the drive though, jumping a route to pick-off a short pass attempt from Richards.
In the fourth quarter, Lamont Monroe stretched to make a 15-yard catch from Richards on fourth down and five with under a minute remaining in the game to keep the drive going for the Blue team, but the Gold defense held strong again to keep the score at 10-7 before time expired.
The Rams will kick-off the 2018 season on Saturday, September 8 in Kingsville, TX, taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville. The home opener is set for Saturday, September 15 against Texas College. Kick-off is scheduled under the lights of Farrington Field at 7:00 p.m.
