Stars sneak by Lady Rams

Fort Worth – After a thrilling five set victory Friday night, The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (8-5, 5-1 SAC) fell 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 21-25, 21-25) to Oklahoma City University (9-2, 5-1 SAC) at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday afternoon.

Texas Wesleyan defeated the Eagles just 15 hours prior to the start of the game against the Stars. This Lady Rams team does not like to lose. Despite multiples injuries, the Lady Rams challenged the Stars, but in the end Oklahoma City escaped the Sid Richardson Center with a win.

Hannah Altman led all Rams with nine points on six kills and three aces, to go along with 21 assists and 11 digs. Altman and the rest of the Lady Rams have had to expand their roles and they have been up to the challenge.

Brittni Mohle had five kills and no errors before her ankle rolled in the second set as multiple pairs of feet were tangled at the net, leaving the team without yet another hitter.

After putting up a great effort, it was the Stars who came out on top. OCU now leads the all-time series 9-8 and have won the last five meetings.

Naomi Tanaka and Jasmine Creek led the team in kills with eight apiece. Creek also added 16 digs. Brenda Pargas notched 21 assists and 10 digs. Brianna Sitton had 26 digs.

The Lady Rams have another test, this time on the road at SAGU. That games is set for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19.
