FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan Men's Basketball team (3-1) posted an 80-68 win over Our Lady of the Lake (1-3) in day two of the second annual Champions Classic at the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.
It was a tale of two halves, as the Rams kicked it into high gear in the second half to pull away from the Saints in the Champions Classic finale.
The Rams shot nearly ten percent better in the second half and lit up the net with a myriad of three's. To get there, the home team erased a six-point deficit with an 8-2 run highlighted by a
Peyton Sallee triple and a swipe and score by
Joe Cook-Green. That gave the Rams a 43-42 lead with 14:12 remaining in regulation.
Sam Lorenzen came alive from downtown giving the Rams a 16-point advantage with five minutes left. It was church from there as the team rode to an 80-68 win.
The team was plus 11 in the rebound column and plus eight in point in the paint. The Rams also shot four percent better than the Saints, 38% to 42%.
Joe Cook-Green took charge in the second half, leading the in rebounds with 12, while adding 10 point and five assists in the win. Lorenzen dropped in the five from beyond the arc and finished with 17 points. Sallee added 16 points, while
Akeem White posted 11 points.
The Rams stay at home to take on Dallas Christian on Thursday, Nov. 14. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Sid Richardson Center.
