OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Texas Wesleyan Women's Basketball (11-15, 9-9 SAC) fell to No. 12 Oklahoma City University (24-2, 17-1 SAC) 85-56 Saturday night in the Sooner State.
The Lady Rams were led by
Nicole Gleason's 12 points, three steals, three assists, two rebounds and two blocks on 4-of-12 shooting.
Evie Whorley also had 12 on 4-of-11 from the floor,
Karah Sicurella jumped off the bench to score 11 with five rebounds and
Chrystal Ngawuchu continues her steady rise offensively with 10 points and three boards.
After falling behind 7-0, the Lady Rams out-played the Stars in the first quarter. TXWES made three of their next four shots and registered two steals to pull within three, 10-7. Whorley's three brought the Rams to within two (12-10) and Gleason's trey cut the margin down to one (17-16).
The Lady Rams kept OKC's advantage to single digits until right before the half, when the Stars went on a mini 6-0 run. Whorley stopped that run with the first points of the third quarter, but the Lady Rams went scoreless the next four minutes, digging a 23-point hole too deep to get out of.
Sicurella did hit a three with nine seconds to go in the third quarter continuing a bizarre streak. Sicurella has now gotten the final shot up of the third quarter by either team three games in a row, hitting two of them.
Kyla Grant led all Rams in rebounding with eight.
Lorian Benjamin led all Rams assister's with five.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONS?
This wasn't just any team Texas Wesleyan had to face, on the road, Saturday. This is a team whose leading scorer is a freshman off the bench. The Stars are No. 1 in the nation in scoring margin (30.1) and field goal percentage defense (28.3 percent).Â
Oklahoma City ranks top five in the NAIA in field goal percentage, three-point percentage defense, blocks, assists, defensive rebounds, scoting defense, rebound margin, free throw percentage and assist/turnover ratio.

What's next should excite the Lady Rams. Road games at Langston and Central Christian next Thursday and Saturday, two teams beneth them in the standings and two teams TXWES had a lot of success against their first go-around, outscoring those two opponents 157-97.Â
The Lady Rams have fallen two games behind the No. 6 spot in SAC Tournament bracket-watch, but still has a two-game lead on a postseason berth.Â
With victories over both Central Christian and Langston on the road, Texas Wesleyan will have 11 conference wins, the most since joining the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2013.
