OKLAHOMA CITY - The
Sooner Athletic Conference recognized academic achievements throughout the conference as a record 1,049 student-athletes from its members made the 2018-19 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Texas Wesleyan earned 149 distinctions, the most in the four years TXWES has competed in the SAC, beating last year's 147.
Oklahoma City University led the league with 196 athletes who drew the accolade. Texas Wesleyan boasted of 149 on the list, while Wayland Baptist had 143 among the honorees. Southwestern Christian placed 103 on the honor roll.
The 2018-19 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll included the most recipients in the five-year history of the award. OCU's 196 honorees set a record for the most by one school. The list topped 1,000 student-athletes for the second consecutive year.
The SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll includes student-athletes at its member institutions competing in an NAIA-recognized sport who maintained a 3.0 grade-point average over the past academic year.
