Volleyball aces first road test; Foy shines in sweep

PLAINVIEW, Texas – The Texas Wesleyan volleyball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-22) over Wayland Baptist (0-3) at the Hutcherson Center on Friday.
 
The Lady Rams were efficient enough, hitting .262, a season-high. The Pioneers hit .151 and were plagued by -10 in total errors.
 
Three TXWES players had near flawless performances hitting. Bailey Foy led all players with 13 a season-high 13 kills, hitting .571. Veronika Webb hit .889 behind eight kills and no errors. She added four block assists. Sydney Charlton added six kills and hit .385 in the win.
 
Morgan Burns distributed the ball well and earned 23 assists. Ashley Curry notched a 14 digs.
 
The team dominated to win the first set, and in the second the Lady Rams found a 10-0 rally late to spur a win. In the third set, TXWES had to make a comeback down 20-15. A timeout led to a 7-0 Ram raid to give the team the lead. Nyia Anderson recorded her seventh kill to end the match and seal the win.
 
TXWES is now 11-12 all-time against Wayland. The Lady Rams have now won the last eight contests, dating back to the September 15, 2017.  
 
Texas Wesleyan volleyball will be back in action next Friday, October 30 when they travel to Waxahachie for a showdown with SAGU. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
