OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Texas Wesleyan Volleyball team broke a 14-game drought to the Oklahoma City Stars, beating the Sooner Athletic Conference defending champs 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-13) on Friday night.
The Lady Rams are now 8-15 overall historically against the Stars, and Friday night's victory marked the first win over OCU since 2015 and first win on the road against the Stars since 2014.
Naturally, the match was a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire in 5 sets, with a close two-point difference in the final set as the Lady Rams pushed to victory.
Off a 4-4 tie in the final set, TXWES went on a 6-2 run featuring 3 Lady Ram blocks and 5 OCU errors to gain a 10-6 advantage. The Stars went on a 6-3 run of their own to inch within a one-point deficit, 13-12.
An OCU attack error put the Lady Rams at match point; however, the same Star who committed the error redeemed herself with a kill. TXWES took a timeout to discuss strategy, and the following play would win the match on a clutch kill by

TXWES bested the Stars in every category except aces, as they came away with an 80-79 point differential, 63-62 kills, 5-11 aces, 12-6 blocks, 61-60 assists and 104-100 digs. The Lady Rams also hit .196 compared to the Stars' .150 clip.
Bailey Foy led the Lady Rams attack with a season high 18 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Leading in assists was
Morgan Burns who tallied 55 assists paired with 20 digs for her fifth double-double of the year.
Also, with her fifth season double-double was
Nyia Anderson on 12 kills and 18 digs.
Leading in blocks was
Veronika Webb with 7 total, and
Sydney Charlton had 6 total blocks.

Andrea Malek 21 digs and
Ruby O'Brien 17 digs.
The win brings the Lady Rams to 12-5 overall and 9-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. OCU is 9-6 overall and 8-3 in the league.
TXWES stays in the OKC-metro area on Saturday to play SAC foe Southwestern Christian at 1 pm in Bethany, Oklahoma.
