FORT WORTH – The Texas Wesleyan University men's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with an 85-71 win over University of the Southwest (1-3) in day one of the 2021 Texas Wesleyan Champions Classic at the Sid Richardson Center on Friday.
The Rams outshot the Mustange 44.8 percent to 43.6% in a game TXWES led from the get go. In control for most of the game, the Rams weathered quite a few offensive bursts from a tough USW team.
The three ball was working. Four different players dropped in a long-range, shooting 40% with Peyton Salle hitting three of five.
Vydall Bradford was electric in the win. He started like a rocket, scoring 15 points in the first 10 minutes. The senior from California finished with 23 points and eight rebounds.
Sebastian Karwoski was stalwart in the lane for TXWES. The senior from Mansfield posted 16 points and nine boards in the win.
MACU (6-0) used a second half run to pull away from Baker (Kan.) (2-3) 82-75 in the early game.
Tomorrow MACU takes on USW at 2 p.m., while TXWES plays Baker at 4 p.m.
