FORT WORTH – The Texas Wesleyan University women's basketball team (5-0, 2-0 SAC) remains unbeaten after rocking past UNT – Dallas (6-1, 1-1 SAC) in a 94-49 blowout at the Sid Richardson Center on Sunday afternoon.
The 2021-22 Lady Rams have matched the best start the program has enjoyed since 2010-11. The 2010-11 team went 28-6 and had a streak of nine, seven and two streak of five – including the 5-0 start.
The Lady Rams led by as many as 45 and shot 51% from the field on 29 of 57, and the Trailblazers fell into foul trouble early and often. TXWES shot 70% from the free throw line, going 32 for 46. Additionally, the team was +18 in rebounding. Points in the paint was the closest stat line, with TXWES holding a 2-point edge. The Rams bench was active again tonight, posting 36 points in the win.
Five Lady Rams scored in double digits with
Zarria Carter leading the way with 17.
Hailee Walls added 15 points.
Makayla Coy tallied 12 points and seven boards, while
Kertisa Amos tacked on 11 points and seven rebounds.
Evie Whorley notched 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
The Lady Rams will put its streak on the line in a second run-in with Huston-Tillotson in Austin, Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
