FORT WORTH, Texas-- The Texas Wesleyan women's basketball team (9-1) defeated Our Lady of the Lake University (2-9) 83-65 on Wednesday evening at the Sid Richardson Center.

The Lady Rams opened up the game with a strong offensive performance as TXWES outscored the Lady Saints 28 to 15 in the first quarter. OLLU bounced back from a slow start and outscored the Lady Rams 13-10 in the second quarter.

The Lady Rams hit their stride in the third quarter as they took control of the game, scoring 27 third-quarter points. TXWES shot 31 of 69 from the field (45 percent.) The Lady Rams also shot 5 of 12 from the behind the arc. (41 percent.)

TXWES played strong defense as they forced 17 turnovers and held the Lady Saints to 24 of 60 shooting from the field (40 percent.) The Lady Rams turned good defense into great offense as they scored 29 points off of turnovers.

Five Lady Rams scored in double digits tonight. Junior Makayla Coy Led the Rams in scoring with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Freshman Zarria Carter posted near double-double figures with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Mary Nyakundi scored 11 points, junior Kertisa Amos scored 14 points, and graduate student Hailee Walls scored 12 points.

The Lady Rams move to 9-1 overall and 7-0 at home. Next up, the Lady Rams will be at the Sid Richardson Center on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. as they take on the University of Science and Arts.
